Ok, over the last few years, many emails have been received from viewers begging me to review On Running's Cloud-based kicks. Well, after ON contacted me, I decided to take the leap. While I was skeptical at first that the pods, or "Clouds", would be more of a marketing gimmick than anything, after running quite a few miles in both shoes, I can see how so many people enjoy them.

While they aren't the most cushioned, the lightest or most comfortable shoes overall, I do see how the pods work well for someone looking to pick up the pace with a responsive shoe. The snappy, nimble Cloudflyer is my choice of the two, benefiting from a more cohesive build from outsole to upper. Marketed as a "support" shoe (I'm not quite sure how that's achieved here), the Cloudflyer works great for a midfoot/forefoot striker.

As for the Cloudsurfer, the outsole rubber Clouds are a bit more harsh and minimal, not providing quite the level of stability or fun as the former. And both shoes suffer from major lace letdown. Way too thin on that front. Big pet-peeve for me.
