It's been awhile since I've reviewed a Brooks Pure shoe, the last being the PureGrit 3. Well, I'm certainly glad I did. The PureFlow 5 is the first version of the PureFlow that I've demo'd and now that the PureConnect is gone, the PureFlow steps in. It's a fun, neutral, responsive, flexible ride that I really began to enjoy from the very first run.

The DNA midsole is solid, not too thin and not over built. Plenty of flexibility is added with the built-in flex grooves. And the solidness of the build seems to be holding up quite well.

Where the real problem lies with this shoe is with the narrowness. It was by far the most noticeable and problematic design choice. The longer I have run in the shoe, the more my pinky toe wants to crush underneath my other toes, leading to all sorts of problems. In most cases, I chalk this up to mis-sizing, but with all other aspects of the shoe fitting normally and comfortably, the narrowness becomes a problem.

Overall, I still run in this shoe as a road trainer and enjoy the quickness I feel in them, but anything over 12 miles at this point causes issues that last for days with my toes. Big prob. I highly encourage you to try these out for yourself as all of our feetsies are different, of course!
